Hombu dojo

The Hombu Dojo, or simply put, “Main” Dojo, is the actual place where the instructors of the organization are trained and developed. It’s where the family – or ryuha – gathers. It’s where the foundations of the “do” come to life. The dojo sets the foundation for the development and the training of instructors.

In Greece, the Hombu Dojo was founded by Kyoshi B. Polychronopoulos in 1988. Kyoshi Polychronopoulos was head of the Hombu Dojo in Galatsi (Kapodistriou & Tsakalov Streets) from 1988 – 1998. Later, it was relocated to the district of Zografou (Biskini & Stavraetou Streets) and from 2005 to August 2010, the Hombu Dojo operated out of the gym facilities of a private school. Since September 2010, the Hombu Dojo's new location is in the district of Galatsi (3rd floor, 30 Filotheis St.).

In over twenty years since its foundation, thousands of students have practiced martial arts at the Hombu Dojo. More notably, however, what makes the Hombu Dojo one of the most established places for martial arts training in Greece and Europe is the the training and development of its instructors.

Today, head instructor of the Hombu Dojo is Kyoshi Polychronopoulos – 8 Dan. Assistant instructors are: Shihan Panagiotis Vergotis – 5 Dan, Sensei Kalli Polychronopoulos – 4 Dan, Sensei Eleni Sarrou – 4 Dan and Sensei Christos Tsamoudalis – 4 Dan.

In addition to the assistant instructors above, there is a growing number of advanced students who assist in the teaching and training, attesting to the fact that the Hombu Dojo sets the foundation for the serious study of the martial arts.
